The data we collect
Here is everything EdgeTime holds about you, and where it comes from.
When you are just browsing
Looking at the ice board or the marketplace needs no account. Our host records standard technical logs — your IP address, browser and device type, and the pages requested — to keep the service running and to defend against abuse.
When you sign in
You create an account by signing in with Google (a small number of accounts use email and password instead). From Google we receive your name, email address, profile picture, and a Google account identifier — only the basics needed to set up your account. We never see your Google password.
When you post a listing
To put ice on the marketplace you give us a contact name, an email address and/or a phone number, and the details of the slot — arena, city, date, time, sheet size, and price. The contact details you choose are shown publicly on your listing card.
How we use it
We use what we collect to:
- show you the ice board and the marketplace;
- create your account and keep you signed in;
- publish, display, and let you manage your listings;
- let buyers contact you about ice you have posted;
- keep EdgeTime secure, debug problems, and prevent fraud or abuse;
- meet legal obligations when we are required to.
We do not use your data for advertising, and we do not sell or rent it to anyone.
What other people can see
A listing is public by design. Anyone on the internet — signed in or not — can see the contact name, the email and/or phone you added, the arena and city, the date and time, the sheet size, the price, the listing status, and roughly how long ago it was posted.
Treat a listing like a public classified ad: do not include anything you would not want shown publicly. You can change a listing status or remove it at any time from the marketplace, and removing it takes it off the board.
Where the board comes from
The public-skate, shinny, and stick-and-puck times on the board are collected from arena and municipal websites — public facility schedules, not information about you. Building the board does not involve your personal data at all.
How long we keep things
We keep your account information for as long as your account exists. Listings stay until you remove them or they are taken down. Technical logs are held for a limited period for security and troubleshooting, then discarded. Ask us to delete your account and we will remove your personal data, apart from anything we are required to keep by law.
Your choices and rights
You stay in control of your data:
- Edit or remove any listing yourself, any time, from the marketplace.
- Sign out to end your session on a device.
- Ask us to access, correct, or delete the personal information we hold about you, or to close your account.
Under Canada’s federal privacy law (PIPEDA) and applicable provincial law, you have the right to access and correct your personal information and to withdraw consent. To make a request, reach us at the address below.
Keeping it secure
Accounts are protected by your Google login (or a hashed password), sign-in cookies are HTTP-only, traffic is served over HTTPS, and database access is locked down so members can only touch their own listings. No system is perfectly secure, but we work to protect your information and to collect as little of it as possible in the first place.
Young skaters
EdgeTime is not aimed at children. You should be old enough to enter a binding agreement in your province — and at least the age your arena requires to hold ice — to create an account or post a listing. We do not knowingly collect personal information from children; if you believe a child has given us data, contact us and we will remove it.
Changes and contact
If we make material changes to this policy we will update the date at the top and, where it matters, flag it on the site. Continuing to use EdgeTime after a change means you accept the updated policy.
